Have I “emerged” yet?

Hallelujah and zounds.  Despite almost improbable odds, the North American Apocalyptic Paranoia Tour (NAAPT) 2012 continues.

NY

I am presently coming off (and recovering from certain delightful excesses as a result of) a weeklong workshop of IF YOU START A FIRE [BE PREPARED TO BURN] with the fine folks at Mondays Dark in New York.  A private reading took place on Monday the 21st at the Ken Davenport Studio, directed by the Kenny Howard and featuring Ryan Krause, Lenny Platt, and Spencer Rose, seen here from left to right:

I poached this photo from here.

IF YOU START A FIRE [BE PREPARED TO BURN] will appear in New York this September courtesy of Mondays Dark - the current plan is to mount it at the Atlantic Theater Company’s 16th Street Theater (formerly the 2nd Stage). When tickets become available, I will post to that effect!  In the meantime, follow me on BookFace or the Tweeters.

After the reading in New York, I headed for the capitol of this great nation, from where I’m writing this missive.

DC

I’m visiting a very good friend of mine here in DC, Dr. Feser, and was able to visit and tour Arena Stage today thanks to Amrita Ramanan, the literary manager there whom I met a few years back at the Playwrights’ Center.  Good times.  I’ll be seeing HUM at Theater Alliance while I’m here, and I’ve already enjoyed walking through the Bowels of Moloch the Owl.  I’m still waiting on my invitation to the Grove.  There’s a hidden owl in my surname too, as a matter of fact.  This goes very deep.

ATX

After DC it’s back to Austin where a group of us will be privately reading my new play VASILISA MOST LOVELY for the first time. This play is an adaptation of the Vasilisa folktale. Time in Austin will be followed by a strategic retreat northward to the glorious Midwest, where my whole trip started.

IA

Specifically I’m heading to Iowa, where the Des Moines Social Club will present the first reading in the Midwest of IF YOU START A FIRE [BE PREPARED TO BURN] on June 6th at 630PM.  My friend and fellow playwright Deborah Yarchun and I will be hosting a writing workshop on the 7th.  Details of both the reading and workshop are here.

HTX

And if that wasn’t enough, after a stint in the Upper Midwest it’s off to Houston for a reading of WOLF CRY WOLF in the Landing Theatre Company’s New American Voices Play Reading Series, July 5th at 7PM.

There’s also a TOP SECRET PROJECT I’m working on for a Festival in Illinois in July.  More on that eventually.
