FIRE in NYC
If you are a frequent visitor to this webpage, you likely already know that my North American Apocalyptic Paranoia Tour 2012 is taking me from Austin to Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Des Moines, and Saint Paul, all in January and February. That’s a lot of wintry apocalyptic paranoia for one playwright. And yet, behold, there is more:

Mondays Dark are a new theatre company in New York City. Their spring show will be my comedy IF YOU START A FIRE [BE PREPARED TO BURN]. Dates are TBA, but the show will run for a month between April and June.

And of course FIRE will receive its world premiere at the New Theatre Project in Ypsilanti, Michigan this February!

On the Subject of Cyborg-Reindeer Hybrids

Over the winter break I wrote a one act holiday comedy for the youth called A VERY STAGEHAND CHRISTMAS: REINDEER APOCALYPSE STORM! My titles keep getting longer. It’s a worrisome trend for poster designers. What is not worrisome is that Playscripts, Inc. will be publishing this play, my first in print, soon! When it’s available to order I’ll set up links and such, and you can use your hard-won currency to buy it.

The Year of the Playwright?
Mark Lowry of Theatre Jones writes here about local and localish (i.e. Texas-tied) playwrights in the upcoming Dallas / Fort Worth theatre season. My buddy Larry Herold‘s play THE SPORTS PAGE at Stage West gets mention, as does COYOTE at Nouveau 47. We are competing for audiences on one weekend. Somebody’s going to get hurt.

Workshop
Said buddy L.H. and I led a workshop yesterday at Stage West. We discussed want, need, and urgency in dramatic writing and then monologues. Fourteen people turned out and we hope learned something. At least two things ideally. We then saw a play about Spinoza by David Ives at the theatre. A complicated day.
